3D printing workshops for talented girls

This summer, ncodic had the opportunity to participate in the Coding Camp project, organized by the Ženský Algoritmus association to support young, talented girls. Our lecture focused on 3D printing and 3D modeling, with the primary goal of demonstrating how participants can translate their creative ideas into tangible projects using these technologies.

The event featured two main workshops. The first took place on July 19 at the State Research Library in Košice, and the second on August 16 at USP TECHNICOM.

During the workshops, the girls learned how to transfer models from the virtual to the physical world. We explained how 3D printers work, the materials that can be used, and the different printing techniques available. Additionally, we discussed the practical applications of 3D printing across various industries, from medicine to art and design.

ncodic has officially become a member of the Digital Coalition. The Memorandum of Partnership and Cooperation was signed during the SLOVAK DIGITAL COALITION SUMMIT 2024.

The conference featured a presentation by Miroslav Murin on the security challenges posed by Artificial Intelligence (AI). Murin discussed both the benefits and risks of AI, highlighting its role as a versatile helper and a potential tool for creating phishing attacks and disinformation, such as fake photos and videos. He emphasized the importance of early threat detection through AI-based cybersecurity approaches within companies.

The event was attended by leaders and representatives from various organizations, including Canon Business Center Slovakia, ELV.AI, KUBO MEDIA, Mesto Trebišov, Kvapka nádeje, Slovak Society for Computer Science, DATALAN, Benly, Cisco, Nettle, and ESET.

Discovering the world of IT

At ncodic, we firmly believe that building a foundation of basic IT skills should start in primary school. To support this vision, we have partnered with the Digital Coalition and Datart in a project called Future Pathways.

On 24 April, we organized an engaging series of activities for primary school students at the UVP TECHNICOM (Technical University of Kosice) to develop their IT skills and inspire a passion for technology. These included:

Micro:bit workshop – Students were introduced to the basics of programming and hardware by working with micro:bit devices, they had the opportunity to program hardware in a playful way and create a simple game.
3D printing demonstration – They were able to observe the 3D printing process and learn how digital designs are transformed into physical objects.
Virtual Reality Experience (Meta Quest) – Through an interactive virtual reality experience, students were playfully introduced to the vast possibilities offered by the 3D environment.
Build your own computer – Students had the opportunity to watch how a complete computer is assembled from individual components, gaining an insight into the functions of the individual components and the basics of computer hardware.
A game promoting critical thinking and testing the ability to tell AI-generated images from real ones.

We also provided students with a few dozen 3D models to take home as a memento.

We strongly believe that such activities are crucial for the early development of IT competencies. We hope that by engaging students in hands-on technology activities, we will motivate them to pursue further education and careers in IT.

Our collaboration with the Digital Coalition underlines our commitment to supporting a technologically literate future generation. We are committed to continuing our efforts to provide young students with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
